SEXUAL PURITY
His word rang in my heart,
As clear as a belI.
I understood His precepts,
As clear as crystal.
But my sexual desires betrayed me.
I walked down to Gaza,
And laid with the harlot.
His Spirit tried to caution,
But once again, I fell!
My conscience deadened,
As dead as a doornail.
My mind got weary,
As weak as a broken spirit.
I couldn't break off this habit.
I stood at the roof top,
And stared at her pernicious beauty.
My morality lessened.
No iota of godliness in me!
My desires were slick,
As slippery as an eel.
It ripped off my royalty,
As stripped as a jaybird.
Though filled with guilt and regrets,
I ran swiftly to the Lord.
His mercies are unending.
So, He gave me a new garment,
One as bright as the sun.
My glory, He restored!
My beauty, He replenished!
