DEALING WITH INCONSISTENCY
Sandra woke up to a bright morning sun so enthusiastic about the new skill she was going to learn; being a professional pianist would be cool, she thought.
After having a quick shower, she dashed out of the house to the studio. Mark, her tutor was already waiting for her at the studio....
Weeks went by and she was finally done with the tutorials. All she needed to to now, was to keep practising and learning from some online music websites.
It's being three months now, and she hasn't really gotten far with her target. It's more like she has lost the motivation she once had, being unable to meet up with her daily targets and now she's beginning to think she made a mistake by choosing to get skillful in playing the piano.
Does this in anyway sound farmilar with what you maybe struggling with right now?
Is your behavior inconsistent with your goals? If so, it could be keeping you from living the life you say you wish to live. Exploring the inconsistencies between what you plan to achieve and how effective you take efficient steps towards them can help you stop sabotaging yourself and be true to your values and desires.
“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.”
– The Rock
Anyone who wants to be successful must definitely understand that consistency is a key factor in the success equation.
I've got a question for you....
Why do you really wish to get consistent with that thing??
What most people lack is a very conceptual idea, they lack THE PURPOSE.
They do not have a reason for wanting to do a certain thing.
When I started writing poems, it was all for fun and trust me, I wasn't consistent with it. However, as soon as purpose got attached to it, I learnt to get consistent with it.
See, we humans are curious. Our mind is wired that way, it tends to gain all the new information available in the surrounding, and that is how it survives. It is designed to be curious. And so you would always want to learn some new skill(learning to play piano), new language(Chinese or French) or anything which may fantasize you.
At the starting you would feel a lot motivated and energized to start learning that new fantasizing skill, but what happens after few weeks, you get bored, you start procrastinating, isn't?
And then what happens next, you give up. Because giving up is easier than struggling.
So before deciding to learn a fantasizing skill, first decide what value it would add to your personality and what good it would do for your future.
Tag a purpose or reason to that skill and preserve your motivation.
That's one point in dealing with inconsistency. We would learn more on Thursday... See you around!
Don't forget to share to your friends and loved ones.
