SHARPENING YOUR SKILLS
Hey there, how's the new week going?
Here's a quick breakfast to set us on our feet this morning.
What comes to your mind when you hear the word- “SKILL”?
Some say it’s an ability that has been acquired by training , some other school of thought sees it as a form of artistry that gives one a competitive edge .
Owing to the fact that a skill is acquired and not necessarily inborn, we can conclude that both school of thoughts are correct.
However, the beauty of any skill is in its marketability. Any skill that is incapable of being marketed has annulled its essence.
Please note that the word “MARKETABLE” here doesn’t necessarily mean “To make profit from” but the contextual meaning is to “MAKE IT COUNT”.
Every sane person loves perfection and will be willing to pay through their nose just to get the best. Hence, the need to gain expertise in your skill.
Most recruiters explicitly spells out the kind of skill required for the job role, and they pay close attention to it upon sighting any CV. The reason is to avoid any unnecessary drama during interviews.
It is not just enough to have skills but for it be sharpened. Your BEST can still be worked on. A sharpened cutlass will cut faster and easier than an unsharpened one even though they are both cutlasses.
A great man once said “THE ENEMY OF THE NEXT STAGE IS THE PREVIOUS ACHIEVEMENT”. The secret of great men is that they never stop sharpening their cutlass. You must learn to consult PEOPLE, make research, and engage your MIND so as to get better at what you do.
There will be a huge demand on you if and only if your skills meet the requirements of those that need it .
Ultimately, the goal of this article is to challenge you, I mean YOU, to take that skill a step higher ‘cause the BEST VERSION OF YOU IS YET TO BE SEEN
With love from your friend,
Maggy.
